[What is TOURING MAPPLE?]
Touring Mapple is a road map that has been published with the trust of travelers for more than 35 years, counting from its predecessor, Motorcycle Touring Mapple.
The most distinctive feature of this map is the "comment information" scattered throughout the map, which varies in genre and content.
These comments are based on first-hand information obtained from riders in charge of reporting in each area, as well as monitors and editors from around the country, who actually ride and check out the event every year.
In a book map, where space is limited, each comment is limited to 20-30 words at most, and not much can be said.
But that leaves room for the user's imagination.
When I look at this map, I think "I want to go there!"I want to know!""I want to eat!""I want to run!"You'll be inspired to travel.
In the world of the web, there is so much information that you may feel like you have been there even if you have not.
However, the experience of making your own journey with a map is truly an "adventure" and you will be 100% impressed.
This is the best part of TOURING MAPPLE.
[The 2022 version will also be based on the application Route!A use is included!]
Route!", an application that allows you to view TOURING MAPPLE on your smartphone
You can view the map seamlessly, display your position, and record your riding log.
It is very convenient to use the app in combination with a book for planning and the app for checking your current location when you are on the road.
Before going to bed at night, you can review tomorrow's path in your futon or sleeping bag.
There is a coupon code included in the package that allows you to use such an app map for 12 months, making it very affordable.
[The map specifications have been revised.
The recommended route is from purple to pink]
We have made a clear distinction between the "Recommended Roads" and "Access and Shortcut" specifications, which have been confusing and difficult for users to understand for many years.
We are also planning to improve the map to make it easier to read and understand by organizing the comment color coding (adding the Michi-no-Eki and SAPA comment specifications), reviewing the spot icons, and adopting new icons (cafes, soft ice cream, photo spots, giant trees).
Please check out the new legend page.
[Map depicting the journey]
The catchphrase for this year's event is "A map to draw a journey - surely we will go on a journey".
Due to the ongoing chaos that has been continuing since 2020, the situation makes it difficult to go out as freely as before.
Nevertheless, if each individual has a variety of ingenuity and care, he or she can make the trip.
*The main users of TOURING MAPPLE are motorcycle riders, but the contents can be used by all travelers.
By vehicle, by bicycle, by train, by foot.
Alone or with someone.
We hope you have a wonderful trip.
●Update of map contents
As usual, we are updating the commentary information based on real-ride coverage by the assigned rider and monitor data, just like in previous years.
In addition, by making full use of Shobunsha's map information and various coverage networks, it also corresponds to the aging information (opening, opening, closing, relocation) of a huge number of roads and facilities.
Comments on roads such as scenic beauty, pleasant roads, winding roads, dirt roads, as well as comments on various genres such as hot springs, roadside stations, gourmet food, famous water, historical spots, dams, campgrounds have been newly added and revised this year.
●Useful index page
At the end of the book, there is an index of cities, towns, villages, day-trip baths, and campgrounds within the area of the book.
"City Index"
The phone number is included to support navigation input.
It also has an easy-to-read "yomikana" display, making it easy to use.
"Day spa index"
Includes rates, hours of operation, a brief description, phone number, and "availability" information.
In day-use hot spring facilities marked with '○,' you can stay overnight (spend the night until morning) even if you're not staying at the inn.
This information will be useful when you are touring without a solid schedule, when you are more tired than expected, or when you are caught in a heavy rain.
"Camp Site Index"
In addition to the fee, the period of operation, and the telephone number, the information of "whether it is possible to ride on a motorcycle" is attached.
Only a few campsites are listed in the index, but there are many campsites with comments on the map.
●Special Feature
The person in charge of coverage introduces spots and gourmet experiences encountered at each location with photos.
This feature aims to help you find the destination and purpose of your trip.
Also, the annual "Reader Submission Page" is still alive and well this year.
Users are asked to submit their photos via Twitter, and from among the many submitted photos, the author riders have selected 10 for each area.
●Folding Map
On the front side, there is an easy-to-understand map of the highway network, and on the back side, there is a full-scale wide-area map for writing and filling in.
The back side of the map is printed in two colors, blue and black, instead of just white (printed in monochrome), in order to maintain the ease of writing on the map and to improve its distinguishability as a map.
You can fill in the areas and roads you've passed, write your plans, and use this map to record your trip.
●Riders in charge of Kanto Koshinetsu
Soichiro Nakamura
When I was a student, I enjoyed traveling by train, and I wanted to be a cyclist, but I found myself riding a motorcycle.
While he was spending his days traveling around Japan, camping and staying in the wild, he joined Finesse, an editorial production company that handles many of Shobunsha's riding and outdoor magazines.
Then, I had a fateful encounter with the TOURING MAPPLE series, and it has been up to now.
